‘CREATION SUNDAY’ ONE MILLION SIGNATURE OPEN LETTER FORM

An initiative of Creation Ministries International (non-profit, non-denominational)

The people signing this open letter/petition encourage all Christian churches to celebrate, each year, ‘Creation Sunday’*, on the second weekend in February, to focus on the vital, foundational doctrines of Creation and Creator as taught in the Bible.

[*The church has consistently adapted pagan dates to celebrate important events. This date coincides with the neopagan rituals (Darwin Day, Evolution Sunday) that have sprung up around Charles Darwin’s birthday (February 12) each year to pay homage to evolution. Darwin is the chief popularizer in the modern era of the idea of evolution (around since ancient times). ]

When one million signatures are reached, we will notify all of the people whose email addresses we have of this milestone, and will also include a special ‘promotional advisory kit’. This way, hundreds of thousands of people will be able to inform their own churches of this huge wave of support, and tens of thousands of churches worldwide can be readily ‘switched on’ to contemplate creation in this way.

BY SIGNING THE PETITION BELOW YOU AGREE THAT:

We the undersigned, from many different Christian traditions, believe that the account of origins in the Bible is a simple but factual presentation of actual events. We reject that biblical truth is of a different order from scientific truth, but affirm that the Bible is reliable and accurate on every subject on which it speaks. We believe that the Bible teaches a recent origin for man and the whole creation. The great Flood described in Genesis was an historic event, global in its extent and effect. The special creation of Adam (as one man) and Eve (as one woman) and their subsequent fall into sin, is an account of real history and the basis for the necessity of salvation for mankind, and thus for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We believe that theory of evolution, that is the naturalistic idea that matter changed into mankind by itself over billions of years, is contrary to Scripture and to scientific observation. We recognize that variation, mutation, speciation and natural selection are processes confirmed by scientific research but they do not support the idea of molecules-to-man evolution. We believe that the theory of evolution is inherently a philosophy/belief system. We believe the Bible provides a reliable and superior framework for scientific research into the question of the origin and history of life, mankind, the earth and the universe. We believe that Christian churches should set aside the second Sunday of February as ‘Creation Sunday’ to acknowledge, defend and celebrate the God of the Bible as the Creator of the universe.
